Holiday Project

We can get ready for the holidays by helping others! Raleigh NOW has chosen to help Interact. (More on Interact at end of email) We looked at many ways to help them, and decided to collect presents for mothers for Interact's Holiday Bazaar.

This year, Interact is collecting new, unwrapped items, and letting children and moms pick out presents for each other. We will collect the items at the next 2 Raleigh NOW meetings (Nov 6, Dec 4) and deliver them to Interact on December 6th. This entry lists some suggested presents. We could collect other presents as well, but we have heard that moms get shortchanged and so we would like to concentrate on them.

For Mom's

Bath and Body products
Calendar/pocket planners
Cameras and film
Earrings/jewelry sets
Gift certificates
Gift picture frames
Gloves, hats and scarves
Journals
Make-up
Perfumes
Picture albums
Pre-paid phone cards
Relaxation cds
Walkman/portable cd players
Watches

Baskets for presents (gift bags may be another workable idea)

Note: This year they are gathering presents into baskets for the moms, so we can bring individual items, or group them.

At the December meeting, we can put presents together for baskets. Interact said if we could collect baskets that would be helpful too. So bring baskets in nice condition. Or if you see some on clearance, get some if you can and please email me so I can get some too.

Interact is a private, non-profit, United Way agency that provides safety, support, and awareness to victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault. See http://www.interactofwake.org/about/ to read more about it.
