Women and the Media - great event and another great documentary

Two Powerful Documentaries available on Women and the Media.

1. Miss Representation

This powerful new documentary explores how the media's misrepresentation of women has led to the underrepresentation of women in positions of power and influence. The film challenges the media's limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself.

The Miss Representation screening will be held on Tuesday, November 29 at Motorco in Durham. The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:00pm and film will begin at 7:00pm. NC Women United is proud to co-sponsor this film screening.

2. Generation M - Misogyny in Media and Culture
Another great documentary on the medias affect on women and girls is Generation M - Misogyny in Media and Culture. That was shown at Fayetteville NOW's fourth Friday/Women's Equality Day event in Fayetteville last August, the one in which we reenacted the Suffragist march.
