Rally in Raleigh March 9

We don’t have to tell any of you what a devastating week it has been for reproductive rights in this country. Last week the South Dakota legislature voted to ban abortion in that state. This ban is an attack on women's fundamental right of privacy and their ability to make the most intimate and personal choice about when and whether to have a child.

Governor Mike Rounds (R) has until March 20th to take action on this legislation. Planned Parenthood (PPMNS) is focusing efforts in SD to press for the Governor to veto this measure. At this time, all signs lead us to believe he will sign this legislation outlawing abortion in South Dakota. Even if the Governor does veto the bill, the SD legislature has the votes to override his veto. It is truly a shocking scenario.

Join us (Raleigh NOW, Planned Parenthood and likely Naral) on Thursday, March 9th for a National Day of Solidarity – We encourage groups across the country to hold rallies and visibility events at your federal courthouse at the noon hour. The message is simple: “We Stand With the Women Of South Dakota!”

Details for our Raleigh Rally.
Date: Thursday, March 9
